ABOUT SEAN MICHAEL DEVER
Inspired by colors found throughout the islands of the Caribbean, mixed with a touch of the whimsical and a breath or two of Salvador Dali, Sean describes his work as “Island Art.” Sean states, “The intention of the work is to give the viewer a mini-tropical vacation. The subject matter is fun and should put a smile on your face. While I take my art seriously, those who view it should see some silliness and feel the sun in your face, a breeze on your back, and the serenity of Sanibel, Captiva, Key West, South Florida and the Caribbean. If for just a moment my work brings a longing for palm trees, sand, and a drink served with an umbrella then I have done what I have set out to do!”
Sean is a Bucks County, Pennsylvania native who relocated to SW Florida after flying and traveling the world in the US Navy. He is a graduate of Florida State University where he attended the prestigious FSU College of Motion Picture, Television and Recording Arts. “The Film School” is regarded as one of the most accomplished film schools in the world and is well known for selectivity in admissions accepting only 20-30 of the thousands who apply every year. The Directors Guild of America recognizes the school for “its distinguished contribution to American culture through the world. ”
Sean is also the author of two best-selling novels, a non-fiction book, various screenplays and he has worked in music, television, stage, and film. He has designed over 140 CD covers and 5 book covers, and his photography has appeared in Adventure Magazine. Sean has loved art and design as long as he can remember. His work has been in SW Florida galleries for over a decade, where his first four paintings sold in 2001. He has over 70 original paintings which are in private collections as well as on display in corporate settings as diverse as Sotheby’s Gulf to Bay, Captiva Island and Roger Dean Chevrolet in Cape Coral, Florida.
In many of his prints, Sean has included a figure of his brown and white dog named Buddy. The “Buddydog Series” has grown to a collection of more than 15 individual paintings and will continue.
Sean has an exclusive agent / publishing agreement with Scott Wallace and the Wallace Gallery. His original artwork is featured in various galleries.
