Artist David Ellis was born in Marquette Michigan where he grew up on the beautiful lake superior shores. David is a self taught artist who has been selling his art for over some 30 years now. David sold his first painting when he was 13 years old.
David's art has been featured in books and galleries in michigan and other locations in the U.S. Over the years he has been commissioned to paint 400 plus paintings in his current home town of Mt.Pleasant Michigan. David and his wife are currently planning to someday move to Florida where he can enjoy painting his tropical scenes etc.
Artist Statement : I have my own style of art and I try to use various subjects and themes which has helped me in my commission work.I tend to do alot of detailed paintings of places I have visited.And the detail is what attracts most of my followers.Most people recognize my work love the colors I use.I have a fondness for the bright colors of the tropics and I use it more in my fantasy painting etc. As of this writing I just finished a collage of Michigan Magazine for the host Barry Stutesman,and his Tv show, " Michigan Magazine " .It now hangs in their museum in Rose City Michigan.I'm currently working on additional collages of Key West Florida and the " Pirates of the Carribean" to name a few.
