ELYSE HOYT - ARTIST STATEMENT “We live in such a fast paced world that we forget to see the beauty and wonder right in front of us.”
My goal is to bring everyday images into people’s lives - to inspire them to see their surroundings with fresh eyes and open minds. I hope viewers will respond to the subtle and extraordinary shapes, colors, forms, shadows, and harmonies around them as well as evoking a wide range of emotions ranging from soothing to picturesque, disturbing to revealing. The majority of my work is unstructured and spontaneous striving to capture the emotion and beauty in the moment. My romance with the natural world equals my appreciation for the diversity of urban life. BIO: Elyse Hoyt
Art is in her genes. Her mother is an award-winning watercolorist and her father is an environmentalist and award-winning photographer. Elyse’s eye became apparent at an early age when her photos, taken with a Kodak Instamatic, were chosen to be a part of a traveling museum exhibit called “The Young Eye”. Elyse’s extensive world travel has opened her eyes to different cultures, landscapes, and architecture-photography offers her a way to capture and share these memories and adventures. In addition to showing locally, Elyse’s images have most recently been seen in National Geographic Television Specials, and on HGTV programming. A native New Yorker, Elyse now resides in Southern California.
