Art has always been an important way for me to communicate, and an integral part of who I am. As the son of an artist and former gallery owner, it was introduced and encouraged early on. Books on Picasso, Rivera, Pollock and the impressionists were alongside my coloring book. Thus my work remains a fusion of childlike fascination with methodical observation. Vivid colors and complex line patterns emerge as a language of rhythm, motion, mathematics and fluid energy. Gaining inspiration from Sacramento, Southern Ca. and San Francisco, my art has taken many turns. At times bright and energetic, filled with love and movement, and at other times dark and nocturnal bringing my viewer a sense of disquieting tension. Whether small charcoal drawings or giant oil paintings, my emotions and environments reveal themselves in the artwork that I create. I paint to capture a small piece of the world for myself, as well to capture a small piece of myself for the world.
